For those striving for a career as an orchestral musician, acquiring the skills to win an audition is the key to success. The rigorous physical and mental preparation required is often a challenge even for professional musicians. In this workshop, active participants have the opportunity to perform one or more orchestral excerpts in the setting of a mock audition and will receive personalized tips and guidance from the guest speaker to be able to ace their next audition. Passive participation is also possible.

About the speaker

Darío Mariño

Clarinettist Darío Mariño graduated from the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and the Mahler Academy Bolzano in Italy. Since 2010 he has been an academician with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, since 2013 he has been principal clarinet of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and since 2017 principal clarinet of the Staatstheater in Kassel. As a first clarinettist, he has worked with orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the best European orchestras.
Darío Mariño has founded various chamber music formations such as the Natalia Ensemble, the Berlin Nonet and the Trio Hanns Eisler. In 2008 he won 1st prize and the gold medal at the Palau Barcelona Soloists Competition.
